Make Your Own Bread Crumbs

Make Your Own

I make my own bread crumbs. It’s very easy. I like adding stuff to it or mixing in stuff besides bread. Plus, I just make how much I need, as I need it.

It’s not a “recipe” really. But since I use breadcrumbs often (here and here, for example), I figured I would share I make them.

Most of the time, I take 1-2 pieces of bread, toss them in the “food processor” (the Magic Bullet) and voilĂ !

If I’m lightly frying something (like fish sticks, chicken strips, or anything “crispy”), I do it a little differently.

It’s just a slight difference. I stick the pieces of bread in the toaster or oven until they are firm, THEN I put them in the food processor!

I have found that 1 piece of sliced bread yields about 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs.

If you don’t have bread, you can use plain cereal (Cheerios, corn flakes), flour, cornmeal, or tortilla chips. I’ve used all sorts of things!
