Baby Led Weaning at 10 Months Old

Today’s guest post is from Rachel Redmon (hermoon.herstars on Instagram) who has a sweet 10-month-old little girl.

A Day in the Life: Baby-Led Weaning with a 10-11 Month Old

Hey y’all – I’m Rachel and I’ll be your guest poster today! Big thanks to Bethany for having me here while she snuggles her sweet newborn. I honestly can’t remember when I first heard about BLW; I do know that it very quickly became the right fit for our family. Healthy eating habits and trusting Rosalyn’s own preferences & instincts are really important to me so BLW made perfect sense for us. It’s been so much fun the past several months watching her explore tastes and textures. It’s also served as a great reminder to clean up our own food choices to provide a good example for her. In general, she’s a good eater with a few under-the-weather/teething/not-super-interested weeks thrown in. Here’s a typical Saturday in our house! Keep Reading!...

My Favorite Recipes for BLW

guest post favorite blw recipes

Today’s guest post is from Kate Donovan!

I’m a pediatric dentist so I can’t help but want to start with a little something about caring for little ones’ mouths. BLW is right up my alley from an oral development standpoint, considering the benefits of self-cleansing foods vs sweetened packs of mush, and developing an adult swallow earlier on. Baby teeth help with chewing, speaking, facial growth, and holding space for the permanent teeth, not to mention those sweet baby smiles! Wiping down the gums with a warm moist washcloth before the teeth come in, and then using a soft bristled toothbrush once they’ve erupted, can help keep those pearly whites nice, clean and healthy. I get asked about teething on a daily basis and usually recommend cold/frozen fruit such as long banana slices, watermelon cubes, blueberries, and pineapple (use caution with pineapple as it is acidic and is slightly more common for allergies than bananas). All of these can do wonders for a grumpy baby by relieving sensitivity of the teeth breaking through.  Keep Reading!...

Chicken Fried “Rice”

I loosely followed Nom Nom Paleo’s recipe (HERE), but I want to share what I did, plus the video that I took while making it.

This video is directly downloaded from Snapchat (username: blwideas), which is why it’s the portrait orientation. And there’s random text on there. And it’s a little choppy and not great quality. But hey! It gets the point across! And sometimes just SEEing something done, as opposed to reading about it, helps tremendously. Keep Reading!...
